Social5 subscribes to a paid service called Ahrefs that will allow you to analyze a customer's website, review blog performance and provide customers with a glimpse at their competitors. This tool is most frequently used as a way to provide unexpected value to the customer. We will now show you some of the applications of this tool:

FIRST: You can find login credentials for this tool under account 70023.

SECOND: To use this tool, you must first enter in the URL of a website you would like to analyze. This can be the customer's website or a competitor's website. No administrative access to the website is necessary.

You can now evaluate the website, looking for success stories that may demonstrate value to the customer. No need to get super technical with the customer. But including some screenshots can often help demonstrate our expertise. Here are things to look for that will be influenced by Social5's service:

Referring Domains: This number will show you how many websites are linking back to our customer's website. This number will generally increase with Social5's service if the blog has been syndicated with their site. Notice the "referring domains" graph. This will show you gains over time.

Organic Keywords: This number will show you how many keywords the customer can be found for. You will typically see a + or - number that shows gains or losses. This number will generally increase if the blog has been syndicated with their site.

Please note: These graphs can be valuable even if the customer is not using an integrated blog. Our service may cause these numbers to improve over time. Consider using this data as an "unexpected value" for the customer. You may say something like this:

Hi [Customer Name],

Hope you are doing well! I was looking through the performance metrics on your website today and thought I'd pass along some good news. We're seeing an increased number of websites mentioning you business. Take a look at the graph I included below. Noticed the upward trend line in the number of "referring domains." Those are the number of websites that are linking back to you in some way.

Anyway, just thought you might want to see that. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you. We want to lift and strengthen your business however we can. Talk to you soon!

The message above is designed to accomplish a number of things. First, it provides the customer with a success story that they weren't expecting. It is "unexpected value." Second, we helped explain a statistical trend that suggests Social5 is working for them. And third, we emphasized our personal interest in helping them succeed.

Let's go a little deeper. In the side column, you will notice a link to "organic keywords." This will show you what keywords the business can be found for. It will also show the ranking of those keywords. Let's take a look at what data you'll be able to collect.

Below, you will see a keyword report. Here are some terms that may be helpful to understand:

Volume: Number of monthly searches for a keyword

KD: The difficulty of winning that keyword if you were to write a blog. 0=easy. 100=hard.

CPC: The current "cost per click" of advertising for that keyword on Google.

Traffic: How much traffic you were able to acquire of the total.

Position: What your current Google ranking is. You will see gains and losses beside each one.

URL: Where that keyword is taking people.

Cool data, right? You can use this data to help customers see how they are ranking for various keywords, or how their competitors are ranking. This is most effective if they have our blog syndicated into their website. However, it can be used to simply share added value

So what success stories might you share? Take a look below. Notice that the search term for Iamacca Homes has moved up 26 spots to put this customer in the first position on Google for that word. Notice that Twitter Tactics — which links to a blog — is a brand new keyword.  Notice gains in "social faux pas examples."

The data available through Ahrefs will provide you with increased credibility when talking with customers. It is seldom used for stand-alone statistics. It is frequently used for creating additional value.
