Welcome to the SEO Blog Writing Team. The articles in this section will assist you in creating blogs that increase a business' visibility on search engines such as Google. This assignment will require your best wordsmithing skills to create a blog that appeals to readers and search engines alike. Your assignment will include the following research and writing responsibilities. 


KEYWORD RESEARCH


You will be responsible for conducting keyword research on new businesses. Social5 has purchased a subscription to a platform called Ahrefs that will allow you to research keyword performance for our customers. You may study our customer's business. You may study their competitors. Please become familiar with the Ahrefs platform. You can log in using the following credentials.

To orient yourself with the platform, simply enter the website address you would like to research, then click "organic keywords." More detailed information will follow in subsequent articles.



BLOG WRITING


Next, you will be asked to write blogs that are compelling to readers and search engines. Your priority should be search engines. When businesses purchase this product, they are interested in increasing their visibility on search engines such as Google. You should seek to improve their ranking as much as possible. You can do this by following these 10 guidelines:


1: Include your priority keyword in the headline. This will receive the most attention by search engines.

2: Include your priority keyword in the first paragraph. It should be identical to the keyword in the headline.

3: When natural, place the priority keywords in a subhead. This will rank higher than general text references.

4: Choose 2-3 additional keywords for each blog. Sprinkle references throughout.

5: Use your priority keyword 8-10 times in each blog. No density is required for other keywords.

6: Hyperlink your priority keyword to a non-blog page on the customer's website.

7: Include at least 600 words of text. The recommended length is 800 words.

8: Use the names of local cities, counties and places in your blogs to win local results. 

9: If cloning an existing blog, ensure that a minimum of 40% of the blog is re-written, reworded or reordered.

10: Remember that the customer comes first. When deciding between cost-efficiency and customer satisfaction, choose satisfaction.


TRACKING KEYWORD PROGRESS


When you receive a SEO blog writing assignment, you will be given access to a Google Sheet to track the progress of your keywords. The spreadsheet will include the name and account number of the customer you are working for. You will be asked to do the following:


  • Record 20-30 keywords per quarter on this spreadsheet. 
  • Include the date the keyword was added.
  • Note the starting position of the keyword on Ahrefs for the customer. (Type 99 if the customer does not rank for a specific keyword.)
  • Track the current position of the keyword during the first week of each month. Gains will be reflected in green. Losses will be reflected in red.



You will experience gains and losses each month. This is natural. It reflects the efforts other companies and competitors are making to strengthen their own businesses online. Your role is to everything possible to increase the customer's visibility.
