When it comes to technology, we have some work to do. Here is where I would recommend starting:
1. NEW HIRE: The first step is to hire a full-time developer. POWR is overseeing the process, but it is taking longer than expected. The salary isn't the issue. The challenge is finding a developer who can work with PHP and speak English proficiently. POWR is considering hiring a senior-level Javascript developer and rebuilding our system within their framework. Becoming involved in this hiring process would be a good first step.
2. PUBLISHING ERRORS: This has been a serious, almost crippling, issue over the past nine months. We are now averaging about 3,400 publishing errors per week. Until April, we were unable to reconnect any MLM account. Our publication apps had been suspended within Meta. The problem was recently fixed, but we have a back log of publishing errors to resolve. Lorinda's team is working to get publishing errors under control now that we have the capability to resolve them. Providing support and accountability to Lorinda's team to get publication back in line would be valuable.
3. DAILY PUBLICATION: When I leave Social5, we will need to have someone reboot the publishing system each day. I've been manually rebooting the system for about three months to avoid the publication problems that nearly cost us Property Management Inc. This problem needs to be prioritized. Without a manual restart, the system will stall after a few days and nothing will be published. If there is a holiday post that is bulk-scheduled, it will overload the system and nothing will go out. POWR believes it is a memory issue. This needs to be addressed.
4. META APPS: Social5 relies on 6-7 publication apps through Meta that need to be reviewed on a monthly basis. If they are not reviewed, the apps can be suspended or restricted. Until a new developer is hired, please ensure that these apps are reviewed on an ongoing basis. A suspended app was the reason we couldn't reconnect MLM accounts for more than six months.
Also, Rich has filed an application for an app that will allow customers to self-connect Instagram accounts to our system. This is mission-critical for providing Instagram service through our platform. Because Meta now requires someone to be an owner of a Facebook page to connect their Instagram account, we are able to connect only a small percentage of businesses to our platform. This needs to be resolved quickly.
5. SALES ASSESSMENT: Our sales assessment is no longer operational as an automated tool. Assessments can be manually created, but the social-scraping tools are broken. We are planning to lean on POWR to fix the assessment. But this will need to be a priority from a leadership perspective to push it. POWR developed an assessment for its products, but did not do anything to automate our technology. This would be a healthy focus after the transition.
6. TECHNOLOGY PLAN: Please see the technology plan included in this category. I have compiled a list of projects that fall into three categories: 1. Social5 is losing money because of this, 2. Employees are irritated and frustrated by the breakage in this technology, and 3. This technology would be awesome to strengthen our company and products. These will provide a roadmap for the future.
