LinkedIn Page FAQ's

Q. Do I have to have a personal LinkedIn page to get access to a LinkedIn Personal page?

A. Yes, you need to have a personal profile created and then page access can be granted to you for specific business pages.

Q. Are LinkedIn personal pages the same as LinkedIn business pages?

A. No, they are not. LinkedIn personal pages are to connect with friends, co-workers, look for jobs, post your resume, etc. However; business pages are for businesses, brands, and organizations to interact with customers or discuss products and services. Business pages can be used for LinkedIn Sponsored Content and pulling analytics for the business page.

Q. Is there a specific login and password assigned the a business page?

A. No, the business page is set up by an individual who already has a personal page. The creator of the page is usually an administrator on the business page and can then grant shared access to other personal pages or partners of the business. This means that to access the business page you go to your personal LinkedIn page and then you can access business pages that you have been granted access to under your profile picture.

Q. Is there a way to get your personal profile connections to become business page connections?

A. Yes, you can personally share the LinkedIn business page link on your personal page and you can also go to the business page and click on "Invite Connections" where you select who to invite from your connection list.

Q. What is the purpose of posting content on my LinkedIn page?

A. An active LinkedIn page with regular postings gets your brand in front of potential and current customers, increasing your online presence, showcase your work for others, increases searchability and increases brand legitimacy. LinkedIn is a good place to meet other connections that are looking for your services.

Q. In what area do you see who has access to your LinkedIn Business page and what level access they have?

A. That is under settings, then "Manage Admins" and you can view the roles of each user. You can also view and accept invites to LinkedIn business managers in this area.

Q. What does reach mean when it comes to LinkedIn?

A. Reach is the number of unique people who have seen your content at least one time.

Q. How does engagement rate work on LinkedIn?

A. This rate is generally calculated by dividing the number of total reactions, comments, and clicks by the number of people who saw the post content or impressions.

Q. Is our LinkedIn Business Page a good place for posting personal or business only content?

A. Although mixing personal and professional content can work in some instances, it is important to have a clear strategy for what you share and why you share it. This means that if the content doesn't support the overall objectives of the page then it may no be the best place to share this information.

Q. Does it matter if you have a profile picture or header image on LinkedIn?

A. Yes, it matters and it is an important detail in your profile. Both business pages and personal pages should have a professional looking profile image and header in the profile. Make sure the image isn't too big or too small because it will effect the clarity of the image. You can use PNG, JPEG, or GIF image types. Having an image builds trust and credibility to your profile, rather than having a blank profile image which gives the impression the page is possibly fake or suspicious.
